Rosalia, Alejandro Sanz emerge as top winners of Latin Grammy

Rosalia, the breakout music star of the year 2019 and her fellow Spanish Alejandro Sanz became the top winners at the 20th edition of Latin Grammys. They eventually carried home three Grammy awards each.

Rosalia became the winner of All Important Album of the Year award and the Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album for “El Mal Querer”. She also won the award for Best Urban Song for”Con Altura”. It is her collaboration with J Balvin. “El Mal Querer” also won the award for being the best engineered album. The wins go to El Guincho and Brian Hernandez. She won the best recording package that translated to five wins for Rosalia.

Rosalia became euphoric while exclaiming that she was unable to believe what did just happen to her in the award function. She said that Guincho and she did this album in a room with only two computers and a keyboard and it was it.

Sanz, the veteran Spanish singer and songwriter won three awards that included awards for Record of the Year and Best Pop Song for “Mi Persona Favorita”. It is a duet of him with Camilla Cabello.  And Kany Garcia, Tony Succar, Juan Luis Guerra and Andres Calamaro followed in wins with two awards each in an evening that was a festive celebration of music. Here awards seemed to be distributed among many genres and personalities.

This show of 20th Annual Awards was also a socially conscious affair. Here many artists made references to their problems and the unrest in their native countries. This was more particular in the media room interviews. This show itself paid homage to a more different egalitarian approach to more music and making of music.

The Latin Grammys awards were given out by the winners of scholarships, instead of the models giving out the awards.
